    • The Dollhouse Part 2

Posted at 6:27 pm by writergherlone, on February 4, 2026

After six long years, I am finally finished with my Victorian dollhouse. It has been such a wonderful adventure, full of learning, building, creating, sewing, painting, and so much more. It has really opened my mind to what I am capable of. I never would’ve imagined that I would build an entire barn, miniature furniture, a miniature boat, or sew tiny clothes, (and so much more) but that is where this project took me. Creating a dollhouse such as this is really just about solving 1 million little problems. It wasn’t easy at times. A lot of people do not know this about me, but I have a chronic rare illness and on top of that, had to have a major surgery during this project. If anything, this dollhouse gave me something to hold onto. It has really kept me sane.

A lot of people played a role in this project, but I never would have even begun if not for my thoughtful husband. I encourage you to read my original post about the dollhouse so that you may understand why it was so important.

A lot of my family is in this house without them even knowing. I made some of the curtains and clothing from my children’s baby clothes. My grandson, Bodie helped me with the mirrored theater ceiling and is proud to say that his name is hidden in the 20th row! Little pictures were printed of my children and grands and set around the house in various places. My dear pets are within as well. My beloved duck Sassafras, who tragically died a few years ago, lent me a feather to make a quill and I used another of her feathers as a paint brush to create the marbling on the library floor.

Some people ask me if it would have been easier to have bought a dollhouse kit. I think for me that would’ve been harder. Sometimes you don’t want to follow rules. For me, never! You need room to be creative. I could not have achieved this by following instructions.

In any case, I hope you have all enjoyed this project. And please reach out if you have any questions. If you ever want to start your own dollhouse project, I am here to help.
